However that medium has its own challenges currently.

Here is a few wildetect style African fauvistic design sketches. We are working towards an art exhibition of our work. If it happens great, if not , it's an exciting imaginative synapse for an artist to conceptualize. Remember, design is as design does. Mostly because every single person that I know, in the last year has had things happen, that are really incredibly difficult to try and process. so one just starts comparing personal tragedies and then that's not really a conversation to wrap around, to try go forward.

This next concept is not exact science, more opinion than fact, however its my process of trying to understand a bigger conceptual picture.

As an artist or creative person, life works through ones very flesh and bones. My limited experience with analytical thinkers or engineering minds, they tend to have programs within their make up that can helpfully screen or deflect aspects of life. Perhaps it helps them cope better with world wide tragedy on a grand scale. It appears to me they don't process global tragedy in the same way as a creative artist does.

An analytical engineering mind will look at a news article about a tragedy far across the globe , process that they cant really do anything to help - and move on with what they can control. An artistic mind takes in the same information and is completely shut down by the immense insecurity and suffering of it all.

Perhaps one can liken it to the effects of a nuclear blast - some victims are instantly vaporized where they stand, the full intensity of the nuclear blast passing through their very flesh, leaves their individual permanent shadow behind as the only evidence they ever existed. This is how an artist creates, to my mind the permanent shadow is the intensity of the artistic work left after dealing with the process of life.

Engineering minds are able to stand behind a screen of sorts, so they don't experience the blast passing through them - so their is no permanent shadow as evidence. Both ways of dealing with the same scenario are necessary for human development to my mind. just one has a much greater toll on the individual at the end. Perhaps our perception that its mental illness is not correct, when its more than likely a reactive process to life passing through one like a nuclear explosion.

Artists work that resonates the most with me is that which captures the intensity of living within this life, as if life is passing through the creative, leaving this permanent shadow as artistic evidence to behold, unpack and collectively experience.

I used to think creativity left behind a portfolio of skeletal thought as evidence. mostly useless sketches of thought, all leading towards some type of proof towards the improving talent of artistic perfection in the individual.

However as world wide tragedy escalates, I'm seeing the role of the artist is to create permanent vaporized shadows as evidence of life. Perhaps for a warning to future sensitive minds. Alarmingly the tragic lesson being learnt after life has been lived fact.

Scientific observing minds that peer into the building blocks of life are vastly different to the creative scientific mind that actively seek to manipulate and weaponize its minute structures.

Those that are content to observe, witness and those that will, "oh so easily", manipulate what they can. To then blindly stand back and watch the after effects of their sinister handy work , to carefully document so they can repeat cut paste.

Well very sadly, we are now dealing with the after effects of those that scientifically fiddle and manipulate to watch effect. These little minded nameless greedy idiots that seek to carry greater weapons of control, simply prove that man is a complete fool, who has proven beyond a shadow of doubt, that he cannot rule himself.

So as we now observe the stage being set for our own chaotic apocalypse, its the creative artists silent vaporized artistic shadows that will leave small evidence, in an age of complete destruction!!

QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-29876431254170560392021-05-14T01:48:00.002-07:002021-05-14T01:49:30.792-07:00a short story - by wildetect 2009
I have tried my hand at the short story, mostly writing to repack the periphery noise but perhaps someone might find they resonate. Experts on the subject will definetly (H?) know much better, however i prefer to dabble for me, rather than the reader.

The bird whisperer - 2009

Konraad Jacobus Smit was an intensely quiet man, introspective reflective to the point of being extremely rude. To Konraad, peripheral talk did not interest him at all. He enjoyed his own company and chose not to speak, let alone meet people. The very thought left him feeling cold and in a strange way violated. His small holding was a suitable distance from the Karoo town he chose to settle in. He never received visitors and his trips to town were short and decisive. When the townsfolk tried to include him initially, many years before, he made it known in no uncertain terms, he wanted to be left alone. So for 40 years he lived off the interest of his parent’s substantial inheritance, not knowing or caring about whatever happened to the family home in Stellenbosch and the holiday homes dotted around South Africa. Konraads parents passed away disenchanted by their only son, who was lavished with attention, only to reject all emotional advances unequivocally. From a very early age he willfully shunned all forms of human interaction. Now days the only time Konraad interacted with anyone was when he gruffly walked into the institution that had been managing his financial affairs. He cared not for the entire amount or for the wealth of the full portfolio, only for that which sustained him at present. Konraad knew exactly what was happening around him, he was aware of what was expected of him. For reasons not even fully understood by himself, he just did not want to give up his thoughts, feeling that every thought or notion was a valuable piece of treasure. A treasure that would get depleted with every word carelessly spilled from his lips.
Konraad had a mysterious gift, a gift his parents could never understand. Where did Konraad receive this gift, this strange but wonderful ability. They fathomed over the meaning of Konraad’s gift, whilst he sat silently wishing only to be left alone with his thoughts. He watched owlishly the numerous professional people who tried to unpack and unpick the sacred trove of his mind. Reverting ever further inwards into the deep dark recesses of his inner sanctuary. Simply put, his strange gift was that he could call the birds. Konraad would sit outside on the grass and make a gargling rasping sound with his throat. A single bird would flop down from the sky and land close to him, not so close as to appear startling. The bird would appear drugged and confused, staring transfixed at the source of this strange sound. Within a short space of time birds would appear from all over. It wasn’t just the shear volume of birds but the variety, all mesmerized by the strange little man quietly gargling and gasping. The trees surrounding this spectacle would become heavy with birds. Konraad would tilt his beaked nose this way and that, perfectly mimicking a clucking chicken. Konraad would keep this charade going waiting for his favorite bird to make an appearance. The beautifully green malachite sunbird would dart this way and that through the throng of feathers, its beautiful plumage catching Konraad’s peripheral vision, before disappearing in another direction or behind a more drab, dull counterpart. The sunbird perfectly reflected his own mind and thoughts, with concepts racing through his mind, out of reach. Konraad read thousands of manuals for appliances, cars, "how to books", mathematical reference material and scientific journals. He would inevitably have better ideas, more advanced concepts than the ones put forward. He zealously guarded these concepts, however, squirreling them away like a crow, to be recalled at will and ripped and pulled apart at his leisure like a giant bird of prey. He would chortle and chuckle to himself , budgie like, for improving the relativity theory or a mathematical formula. He knew he had the answers sought after by the great minds of the day, but he would not impart with his nuggets. They were safely stored in the vault of his mind, never to escape the tightly sealed chasm, never to see the light of day.
There came a point in the calling of the birds that a single sunbird would hover effortlessly in front of him, beating its tiny beautiful wings thousands of times a minute. He would sustain this moment for as long as he could, all the while staring transfixed at the tiny frail bird in front of him, taking in the extraordinary beauty of this truly magnificent bird. The 2 creatures locked in a strange frozen moment , with thousands of onlookers.
As he reached out next to him, he reflected how ironic it was that he had been given this unusual gift. He continued to marvel at his ability and the trust this tiny bird put into him, a strange cold hearted creature, like a moth to a flame. Konraad was still enchanted by his extraordinary ability and the irony as he took aim at this little bird and squeezed off a single shot that exploded the entire mass of birds into a flurry of activity. The vortex of this turmoil left Konraad with the slowly fading flapping of wings and thousands of tiny feathers , mostly green, slowly , silently drifting to earth.
QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-75808674511464926772021-05-10T04:57:00.003-07:002021-05-10T04:57:29.253-07:00poem - rise the dark age of manRise the Ibis with the crow,
Eire of nature they will us show.

Adjutants grow strong, await the feed,
staring wide eyes, mans rampant unchecked greed.

Diamond Tiara's, Gold ruby rings,
burning all flesh, painful red stings.

Harbingers of death flock in the periphery,
hooded creatures herald a dark, light epiphany.

Blazing red moon, controls our wild sea,
darkest day noon , we shall soon see.

The good in man shall yet him save,
from the conspirators pale rider & the grave.

Dont be hornswoggled by the impending storm,
the thunder klap signals mankind to warn.

Man awaits the end of his dark day rising.
free from his own blindness, is now not surprising.

Our vision is clear as we see beyond the dark night,

salvation is near as we walk thankfully towards light.

QJD 2017
QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-2933217118817044822021-05-10T04:51:00.004-07:002021-05-10T04:51:44.219-07:00poem - present future past.
Empires built with the bones of others,

flesh & blood of fathers ,sisters, brothers, mothers.

Empires now revisiting the bricks of its stolen past,
foundations from pilfered flesh will sadly never last.

Sins of the fathers, brothers, mothers, daughters,
as histories bronzes now sink down in cold silent still waters.

Scream at mans mountains, built by tone deaf hands,
winds of change a blowing, a gale force fan.

Veneers of our own poise established thinking,
perforated full of holes & is now rapidly sinking.

Limbering towards our new uncertain future,
creation of which, has been our own set creature.

Frailties of visions, pathetic greedy selfish man.
outcomes now known, we setting our final plan.

Staring wide eyes through an impenetrable veil,
persevere forward , we can now only simply set sail.

Looking up but we all just see down,
head to feet, not sensing the divine crown.

Beneath ones skin , we see the sky,
now delve deep into ones own simple minds eye.

A reckoning is being sought from men long since dead,
metallic unfeeling eyes, current bronzed minded heads.

People now seeking justice from histories infringement masters,
hunting for past architects of this current systems deplorable disasters.

A structure built on the back of human suffering with greed,
will struggle with its longevity and will fail to succeed.

A true structure built on good values, spiritual justice & fine morals,
is a structure born from honorability, worth more than fine corals.

Remember what we learn about building structures on earth,
is that its about using honorable foundations in an empires birth.

wordsmith - Tarquin J Notsmad

QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-26367998362338188422020-11-30T10:15:00.003-08:002020-11-30T10:16:09.764-08:00Recognising basic human dignity
From time to time one has a conversation that keeps one thinking for a very, very long time, after the fact. Long before covid19, when one could actually shoot the breeze with complete strangers and occupy ones time getting to know people, without the threat of catching something airborne and very deadly.

I was walking architectural building plans through the municipality to get stamps from each department, to eventually get final approval . The heritage department always has very interesting characters, who actually care enough about history to actively find a job that looks to preserve it.

So it was on this particular day many, many years ago - I had just steamed through the land usage department and then flew through the zoning department. They then sent me to the heritage department on the 14th or 16th floor - I forget now. Anyway it was one of those council rooms in the back and beyond of the municipality building, that one could sense slow history growing on the walls, on the desk and in every corner of the room.

One would ring the bell and wait and eventually an enlightened heritage official would make their way to the front desk, from a place beyond the publics scrutiny. It was the usual checking of the plans, the position, the erf, the suburb - either you got sent back to zoning or through to another more complicated heritage department and process.

For some reason when all was verified and found in order, the small talk led to the topic of "recognising basic human dignity." yes I know right - rather a BIG jump from "You been busy?' to such a meaty topic. But such is the organic nature of conversation - it can spark like wild fire in a million different exciting directions.

Well this next story is possibly well known, possibly told differently, possibly nothing like i remember it 20 years down the line. however I'm remembering the tale told me, from many, many years back, in a heritage department office. On a very slow day, when my mind was occupied with paying bills and trying to just survive life. Really much like today, right now. So the telling of this remembered story will have holes and I might even miss the original point completely. As I said , conversations that keep one thinking for years down the line, don't necessarily remain accurate to the telling, only really accurate to my perceived understanding, which granted might be limited.

Amongst the deep history photos and heritage items the professional behind the counter started setting the scene to what I found to be a great tale. In the interests of telling the story and not getting caught up in the current climate of political correctness, I'm deliberately just going to leave out every single name, place and any information that will spark a step left riot and then take the focus away from the crux of the tale. Which remember is, recognising basic human dignity.

Many years ago a certain very famous world museum painstakingly was collecting and had collected much art and items of deep interest and many, many objects from a very proud, grand and once greatly established nation. A proud peoples who have been subsequently completely brutalised by the advent of a very greedy human driven new order. In the wake of such a long , over hundreds of years decimation process, much important heritage history was at risk now of being lost and in much need of being painstakingly preserved. So this very famous museum stepped up to take on this very important and expensive task of curatorship.

Not sure if man preserves his history for the lesson of never wanting to repeat it or because he wants to simply remember what happened - there is a difference.

The museum spent many millions to preserve the objects in specially built glass cases , temperature specific and light deprived housings. The incredibly vast collection of items from this now decimated great nation, was staggering and took much effort and many millions to preserve on just a daily basis.

The curator of the museum , a very enlightened great nation heritage professional, who was deeply passionate about the preservation of this fascinating material was visited by the current chief of all the great nations, who's long heritage was now preserved in this great world museum.

Now this very old great chief , shuffled into the curators office , he couldn't speak a word of English , he was dressed in the mighty clothes of his great nations legacy - passed down from father to son, over many generations, its wear was old but still very powerful to the gaze. the curator was very tempted to try preserve the incredible history on display in front of him. But instinctively knew the difference between history and the present.

The great chief flanked by 2 of the great nations current strongest warriors, also dressed in the clothing that represented their deep heritage. Spoke in the language familiar to him and interpreted by one of the young warriors. After an incredibly detailed very respectful interaction, the great chief summed up what he was there for, he thanked the curator for the incredible work he had done in preserving his nations artefacts.

He deeply thanked the museum for the incredible work it had done in preserving all this valuable heritage information. But he made it known that the great spirit that oversees the remaining members of the nation. who in a vision to him, had told him to bring home all the items of his nation in the museum. So he wanted the curator to box the entire collection , stored in several massive museum buildings, under sensitive expensive conditions, to be ready for his collection. To be taken back to the plains of his people, to be respectfully given back to the nation and the earth that had been robbed of its incredible legacy.

The curator was completely astounded - he petitioned and implored and told the 3 nations representatives it was absolutely impossible - much would be lost in the process and it was completely foolish and would never ever be allowed. The great chief just respectfully stared and like all great men, made it clear , it was not open for negotiation.

The curator and the museum immediately solicited the countries best lawyers , employed the greatest legal minds and went into a court room battle over the validity of this completely outrageous claim. The museums legal bench was loaded with the greatest current minds they could afford. the type of minds that cost many millions just to get an opinion from.

On the day of the first court hearing the chief arrived with just his 2 warriors - he shuffled into the courtroom and was very present with every facet of the unfolding proceedings. Through interpretation the court wrote down every word of this great old chief, as he spoke in riddle and rhyme. And petitioned for the return of his nations deeply symbolic heritage.

The court case went right to the supreme court in the land over much time, costing many millions in the process. Eventually a very wise judge at the very end of a very long legal process concluded that all the artefacts indeed belonged to the great nation. And should be respectfully given back to them. so they can respect and honour their dead, their customs and their people. The full cost of the entire legal process was for the museum to carry.

The museum was absolutely devastated, the curator was completely broken. The court set a day when the start of the handover would begin, when the chief with his entourage of many helpers would arrive to start the process of packing up, boxing and taking back their great nations heritage.

The designated court day eventually arrived and the chief stood in the exact same office he had occupied many months before - the same 2 warriors on either side of him. The now completely broken curator could hardly look up as he was devastated at his life's preservation work being completely destroyed.

The chief started talking and the warrior interpreted the wise old mans words. The curator didn't really hear much, but he did notice that the chief had arrived with just the 2 warriors, as before. The curator didn't get much from the long detailed discussion but he did understand the chiefs very last few words.

"The museum can keep all the artefacts, exactly as they have done over the many years, exactly in the current condition they reside in at present".

At that the old chief turned to leave the small office, the curator was incredulous - WHY!! why did we just go through this incredibly expensive, time consuming process , if nothing was ever going to change?

The chief, through his interpreter said - "But things have changed! You now know that all these artefacts, belong to our great nation and not to you."

This powerful little tale , told to you from my memory of a conversation, in a very slow day heritage office, 20 years back, has got me thinking about what's happening right now.

Do not ever underestimate the recognition of peoples basic human dignity. And sometimes its just a simple perception and perspective change that's required. A healthy change of established thinking is more powerful than the actual moving around of structures, architecture and established precedents.

QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-53454388670698482822020-05-12T01:46:00.005-07:002020-12-24T05:36:20.525-08:00covid19 - behold the rise of the average Joe's, behind the curtain big brother.

To be shackled within one’s own living space, under complete house
arrest lockdown, on mass, is a concept not familiar to a free minded person. However
the notion of getting sick with covid19 or worse, inflicting this scourge on
others, is why I’m counting my steps around my own backyard. My wings clipped,
my choices now very limited, whilst I appreciate the far off distant stars and
worlds through the safety of my own limited imagination. These imposed restrictions are understandably for the
protection of mankind’s future survival. I for one - want to be part of
that solution, I’m definitely not looking to flout the rule of law.

However this lockdown experience has created a thought process
which I have never really considered before.

Even after reading Orwell or any
number of future big brother controlled worlds. I still never thought total
domination by others was ever possible within my spectrum of the world. Especially having come out of the 80's, living in SA , where everyone knows the lessons of complete control is best never ever to be revisited. Oh, but how quickly we all forget. For
me now it’s been about our own choices, the raw steering wheel of ones life choices, splintering deep into ones own hands, as you turn into the wind or go with the flow.

Now I don’t have a choice, now I’m
starting to have to think outside of what I’m previously used to. The lines crisscrossing my every path have now backed me into a very small corner of my property.

Regimes that have sought to capture man and control his every
thought and movement are definitely out there, make no mistake. however when one considers oneself a free person, the concept of a regime or anyone really wanting to control and spy
and watch your every move within a glass bottle, is really an alien notion. A
free person, rather thinks all people would rather want to live their own exciting free
lives. Pushing forward on their own, without trying to put control mechanisms in motion, to
fully restrain the freedom of all others.

Well there's a Pollyanna notion for you. simply put there are those who have no real imaginations of there own and who would really enjoy controlling every aspect of everyone else's lives without conscience.

Its a proven fact when looking at existing controlling regimes across the world, who do exactly that. so one must never be fooled to think its not possible - those unfortunate peoples ancestors where once chartering free courses, with life's steering wheel firmly in their individual grasp, without asking permission to breath. Now they are fortunate to go to the privvy without asking permission.

Now freedom is relative - we are all still governed by very important moral and natural universal laws, which in the most part are non-negotiable. And mostly
these laws are respected by honourable humanity, because they make complete sense. However there are
some who flout these very important laws and sadly they will reap the whirlwind of their collective disrespect, if they are not harvesting it all in full already.

So there is a semblance
of control within the choices we make. Don't jump off a mountain - the law of gravity will lead to consequence - don't go deep under water without a tank - you wont be able to breath. natural laws even for your extreme Liberalite. laws that simply need to be adhered to, what ever the gnashing teeth char grin of having to obey them by those who want to be free from all shackles of obedience might think. Absolute unfettered anger to the natural law of gravity, wont stop one dyeing if falling out an aeroplane at 1000 feet. (without a parachute) We clearly know its wisdom not anger that rules the day.

What I’m talking about now here, is regime controllers or
individual controllers that start to put cameras everywhere, who consider it very important to monitor all chatter and then to bring out big sticks to control
those who step over the newly appointed regimes now clearly demarcated lines and newly imposed laws. What might i ask qualifies a controller?

I was once told, I forget where and by whom - "beware , beware, of the stupid laughable military march creators, because the inevitable boot in the face is only moments away." you see at first watching the completely beyond horizontal, straight legged knees up march is very, very funny to behold, because of the fervent discipline of marching in such a complete ludicrous fashion, until it becomes downright frightening when you look to the eyes. Always look to the eyes to see what's moving the legs.

What I’ve now noticed within these times of increased justifiable
control, is suddenly people step up whom you have never ever really noticed
before. To now assume full control of the lives of the all and the many. I’m fully for
making sure i don’t give this sickness to anyone, or i don’t receive it from
anyone. I’m fully for pacing around my own backyard whilst the world settles down
to its new norm of passive aggressive control by others. However what is going
to take some getting used to, is those people that take away my choices without
understanding the facts behind my decisions. Not that it’s anyone’s business, oh but suddenly it’s become everyone’s business. I’m talking about the anonymous
note brigade, behind the curtain average Joe's big brother citizen.

So you might perhaps live in a complex of houses - when you step
off your property, there is now suddenly any number of behind the curtain
camera judges who are quick to post your every movement, even those just to your car, on a group chat.
everyone jumps to their phones in horror as you are judged and termed
"prowling around the neighbourhood, inflicting germs on the elderly and the
vulnerably innocent." the community of behind the curtain judges rush to
their note pads to now leave very early morning notes on doors and cars,
before fading back into the shadows of the night. (I really hope they wore masks, gloves and sanitised the note left on the car - which would then align with their attempts to control others without being hypocritical)

The real point of this is A controlling regime doesn’t appear out of nowhere, I now realise it takes time to layer its way into our periphery vision. What I'm now realising is, it is
comprised of behind the scenes many invisible minders and controllers, using the might of the average Joe's, reporting on their fellow citizens. These self elected keepers of all virtue suddenly assume control of the
all and the free. The regime is slowly putting citizen against citizen, family member, against family member. Our all valuable decisions and choices are now given over to others and we get used to these others now drawing lines in the sand that we cannot step over. we become part of the straight leg, beyond horizontal march brigade, we become overtly unanimously citizenised , beyond what's acceptable for any free minded person. as we watch our legs go straight out before us , as we easily follow suit and march with aggressive furvert into the abys of the well known outcome.

This is all happening over and above Police enforcement. where some police enforcement is now taken
out of all logical control by a few over zealous police minders.
The new future world order norm is, one better get
used to being watched scrutinised judged and found wanting. Maybe we were always watched , all the time, already - we
only noticing now because average Joe's citizen , behind the curtain watcher is stupidly emboldened with face mask to step out from the shadows, and to now anonymously slap our
hands when we overstep the new imposed lines. what's next , hours in the hold for walking on the beach, A hanging at dawn for being 5 minutes late after exercise curfew, a bullet in the face for not wearing a face mask. It appears there are those who will try control your life because it suddenly now gives complete and utter meaning to theirs.

So these are very interesting times and my future self might look
back, whilst I’m washing my hands, trying to avoid the now very much needed for my own complete safety, 3D camera in the corner of
my own bathroom. Whilst I await the notification that I’m a good model citizen.(extra points if I report on my neighbours and family) I will be classed a good citizen for
washing my hands for the hundredth time even in isolation. my raw blistered skin held up to the 3D camera for the average Joe's on monitoring duty to send me a clapping hand emoji via text. FYI, 3 clappy hand emojis gets you a restricted cup of weak tea - because coffee will make you far to alert and to be alert is against Joe's and the minders rules - don't forget now to take your 3 red pills in the morning, 2 green at lunch and 3 yellow in the evening. so you can relax and not think to much as you slowly drift into a Joe's induced coma and watching you snore is a fetish for some on the other side of the 3d camera.

So Whilst we try appease the anonymous
behind the curtain camera note delivery big brother Joe's of the world. I might just smile
because even whilst I’m washing my hands and the skin is now very raw to the bone. My freeman mind is actually skydiving with no face mask, over the city, enjoying the uncontrolled free fall, (the irony is I'm scared of heights) Where i know, no
big brother average Joe's citizen is able to ever take away my creative imagination. so all one can say to the inevitable future is , bring it on - clip my walkabout freedom - however the freeman who lives comfortably in his own thoughts, can never have his creative imagination clipped.

But its important to realise, that if there was a way for others to view and control your inner imaginative thoughts, you can bet your bottom dollar - average Joe's, behind the curtain camera big brother and their sinister behind the scenes extremely dangerous minders, will definitely use it, to invade and control your creative imaginative headspace. to slap your hand and purify your thoughts with shock therapy at 2:30am, all for the protection of mankind’s future survival.

So watch out for the banded together Joe's (Judges Over Evil ' Society) marching straight legged beyond horizontal boots to the air, down your street - chanting "we walk straight, so you better get out the way or if you dont ..................................,"

Beware , beware of the self appointed Joe's, behind the curtain minders of all your freedom. you have been warned - 2020 hindsight will always be fraught with clarity of vision, that's if you learn to flush the pills and keep the steering wheel firmly in your grasp - splinters and all. while you deftly learn to duck and weave the smashing military boots to the face.

last week i drove 4 hrs into the desert karoo and 4 hrs back on the same day, to visit a client. yesterday we flew to Johannesburg from cape town for a 2 hr meeting on site and back on the same day. this concept of being in one space and then another a thousand miles away and back all in one day - is a very interesting one, invigorates the mind.

having gone into the desert on a mission with no name , it felt good to get out of the city. there were plants and birds and rocks and fynbos. in the desert one reflects inwards , the intense thick still air distills a million thoughts from a billion minds. these thoughts travel through time and space , awaiting a receptive mind to interpret them into creative ideas. so its all of our mission to find our quest in this contemplative space - only when in Africa's desert terrain, make sure you dont think to deeply whilst you allow the leopard to sidle up on your six.
Haven't really posted anything on this blog this year - not that i haven't been really super busy - its just Ive been busy saying it in other arenas of my life. introspective reflective is a thing, i think, the thought of the mouth whispering in the darkness and wondering if the ear is listening. i have seen many rather eccentric people speaking to themselves on the roads - whether i am present or not doesn't stop them from having intense conversations to the ghosts of their past. they don't need my or any one elses ear - they need to simply get whats in their head, past their mouth, to empty out the crowded space within. that's exactly like how i see my blog, for me really, not for the odd person who might stumble on whats written.

to conceptualize a futuristic creative idea is the unicorn of thought to my mind - ones focus blurred as you look through the ether and the limited telescopic lens. is it so important to imagine a future artistic aesthetic - not like a sage looks into the future but from a, "what will artistic expression be like in the future or what will our building aesthetic move towards" - i used to think this was very important and it surely is on some level, however i see now being present in the moment, is far more powerful.

Architecture is sculpture and to my mind the more dramatic the perceived movement in the sculpture, the more visually appealing the static, perceived kinetic architecture (wildetect PKA) this concept has long been an experimented wildetect ideal for me. to go full circle on any journey is always an interesting trip, sometimes it can be a very, very sad one.

A friend of mine, who used to capture hunting moments for men with very big guns and very small brains and even smaller unmentionables. told me a very sad story once. the kind of African tale one hears far, far to often. Africa's highways and byways are full of ancient wisdom, some of this wisdom is sadly not learnt by the participants in the tales told.

many years back on his very last such filming contract, he filmed a crew of foreign hunters who where trying to hunt a magnificent bull elephant, in a remote part of the African wilderness. the type of little men, who feed the complete lie that one takes on the spirit energy of what one kills. youve all seen the photos of them ghoulishly smirking over the lifeless remains of their latest bloody conquest. wanting so desparately for you to now believe they are a lion or a mighty elephant or a rare panther.

This bull elephant , a magnificent creature led them for several days through the deepest African terrain. always out witting, out smarting and out playing the tiny single minded ambitions of the pursuing gaggle of less than men. Then rather suddenly , at some point during the long exhausting chase , this magnificent creature, determined as it was, just started heading to the exact spot that they first encountered him. he had led them full circle for many, many miles and days - this wise, now very tired of being chased, old african creature might have realized in this simple statement , that he was making, that he had chosen to take a stand where he first encountered this determined threat. he realised he had no other option from this virulent cancer on his six. these minuscule minded, frothing merciless trophey hunters, sadly didn't feel a reprieve might have been in order for this intelligent gesture. they used their off shelf, mighty little weapons on a less than human endeavor and blasted the creature to kingdom come. as this incredible creature vacated all its systems due to absolute fear of earths immediate future, from imbecilic man, who sadly it appears is now, it seems in full control. my friend silently put down his camera and walked away, this was not chivelry, bravery, this was small minded blood lust. he decided to partake no longer in such a display of false unintelligent merciless bravado.

my point is that full circle is something nature is aware of and needs to be explored more by those amongst us who deeply care. and when one finds full circle moments within oneself - its a good thing at that point to stop and smell the roses. sadly for this magnificent elephant, his magnificent journey ended in a very remote part of the world, but the shadow he cast and the lesson he gave, can live on for those sensitive few amongst us - yes, you know who you are.

trying to catch a synaptic thought into the realm of architectural reality through sculptural inference is a challenge. below is an example of a sculptural design taking into account perceived kinetic architectural ideals - looking to build this architectural creation at some point. a part of the cresting wave moves back to take care of an incredible view of nature. but solitude and privacy within the space is also an important view - a view into oneself, from which you can awaken, full circle.

so ear, have you been listening to what my mouth has just whispered?

finally heading into the desert this weekend for some respite and internal reflection. 4 hrs outside of cape town - "sewe weeks poort". ive learnt one doesn't have to be in a place long to get the essence of what you need from the experience. a weekend can actually suffice. a creative CEMP (Creative Electro Magnetic Pulse) moment is immediate. one is adjusted and aligned within seconds of the new experience. its just a case of opening oneself up for the realignment process when one feels its now necessary. for me this definitely happens in nature, it can happen in conversation with someone who has much to offer - for myself mostly it happens in the silent canyons of the African desert - i remember walking into the Namibian Komsberg reserve - parking my car on the side of a very lonely road and heading up a kraans. when i reached the top of where i could go no further, i came across leopard spoor. reasonably fresh - i realized i had a very long lonely 3 hr walk back to my car. i put my sunglasses on the back of my head and walked back as if i was a hunted man. for a desert leopard im sure i would have made a good meal, that is what i thought at the time anyway.

ive used these tweets and blogs as a self exploration process, as an artist these sketches are for me rather than an audience - but its nice to have a diary of thoughts outside of oneself. if someone reads them thats great - if not , thats perfectly fine. the material is mostly from within and is a reaction to my surrounds. Africa is a very dynamic space to derive influence from - so im hoping the 4hr drive this Friday afternoon - the late in the evening whiskey and the very early morning stillness of the desert saturday morning - will inspire a different direction in my conceptual design approach.

wildetect 2 is in Budapest now, wildetect 1 is heading to Japan next year - for me im going to be heading into the wild bush - the African bush - going to buy a Land Rover asap - kit it out - brand wrap it up with half zebra stripes going into black leopard spoor with wildetecture woven into the imagery. and head into the lonely bush - exploring the far off highways and byways of an untamed land - the lonely kraanse with an eagle silently circling overhead and the spoor of the silent hunters. one cannot ask for a more forefilling process of aligning the mind - so if all goes to plan my next 3000 tweets and 650 blogs will be a much slower process. because the internal reflective process will be done far from the maddening crowd.
As they march to Nosgorov , across the Abysmal plain.
an eye alights upon a red rose , growing against the grain.

guns and sites of men align, this red rose is always at peace.
the machinations of war roll on, now awakening Valhalla's feast.

The red roses beauty under-filed, a pure vision before the dawn.
a plain spotted with vast crimson flecks, before the end of this days morn.

feet that march ordered aligned, whilst all minds drift asunder.
forced to violence boots by politicians religious table talk plunder.

man ruling men will lead to a familiar absolute destructive imagery.
lemming like obedience of boots, again hurrying to inhuman savagery.

how many good men to walk off a cliff before reason shocks their tiny brains?
enough men really, before the notice of a single red rose, growing against the grain.

then to interpret ones own perspective into this dialogue - creates the artistic conversation over time - evokatism. below you might be able to see who is part of this artistic conversation - this way one can open up several lines of communication with a few previous artists. and carry the dialogue along into a far future time.

it also allows for a building of artistic notions without saying the same thing. art allows one to speak to a fellow earth traveler 1000 yrs from now - whether its written artistic endeavor or painted. the skeleton of end product paves the way for the flesh of conversation in the current moment.
on Friday evening wildetecture was privileged enough to attend the Morukuru beach lodge opening in De hoop. its about 2 hours from cape town and is in an incredible setting. we where treated to incredible food by the hosts and spectacular sightings of whales from the shore -

wildetect 2 of 3 designed 3 whale lights for the space - they came out mint and look incredible - the dining room is pulled together nicely under the deco cubist lighting. an incredible evening with a great live band and fantastic food - wow - and thank you.QJD wildetecthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06603970221437991647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5472868103792079746.post-52042087496928738202018-09-11T01:53:00.000-07:002018-09-11T01:58:00.451-07:00answered a few questions for someones thesis

below is my answers to a questionnaire relating to a sustainability project - from time to time i wrap my small experience around my current limited knowledge to answer a few questions for someones project.

happy to fill in this questionnaire - i am part of "QJD design studio" and "wildetecture design studio" - google images for both - that's what we do. i prefer the term wildetect when referring to what i do, because i try to be an African fauvistic designer. (what is that? will let you know once its in place (might take a lifetime) - its all still very much under construction.

the answers below. - are my opinion (hate opinions, but i reckon its best to formulate one rather than to have one thrust upon you) i also feel certain opinions are organic and should be - so what i write below is a snapshot of what i currently think. but as i get older, hopefully wiser i will change these opinions for better ones. so my current personal thoughts on architectural sustainability and design is also organic. you see as humans and in our current design mindset. we are sadly currently rampantly harvesting the earths resources and then we use them against our environment - we are by definition the perfect little mankind virus - destroying our host, every brick, every tar encrusted road and every concrete structure we put up. this can only change when we start to put back 99% more than we take out of the environment, at the moment that equation is very much reversed.

one or 2 cultures over time have managed to live without causing 2 much damage to the environment - they never tried to own the land but rather worked with nature to maintain a perfect balance. the KHOISAN and the Native Americans are 2 cultures that spring to mind. i love the way they both went about living as communities, taking it very seriously when they had to kill to eat - showing utmost respect towards nature , at every single turn. they embodied wisdom we could and should be applying today.

answers to questions below

question 1

i would love to and i do try promote this concept. but sadly design now days is driven by price and affordability and the clients budget - at present all these words representing green, sustainability , disassembly mean the project is going to cost much more and the client doesn't like that. so its a great concept and currently i try put these ideas forward - but when the costs come back - it seems to be cheaper to go with the new building materials to site. hopefully that will change very soon. companies capitalizing on these sexy sustainable word picture concepts might want to dial back their costs and approach more from a humanitarian level. (not all companies are like this - but when i see green - i sadly do feel the price to build has just shot up considerably)

question 2

absolutely - if we can stop this tar, concrete encrusted jungle expanding right now - re-use the current building blocks we have already harvested and created up till now. put this kind of policy in place as a way forward in architectural construction - with limited and controlled new materials being introduced to the built environment system - we can arrest back our planet from the greedy and short sighted. but this sadly is an idealistic view point - so we just do small obeisance to the green concept, whilst we currently rip the eyes out of mother nature.

this mindset needs to change asap.

question 3

yes definitely - for design to be pure it needs to be holistic - at the moment our designs are driven by budget - which means the cheapest and nastiest building blocks are used on site- when we design and the end product goal is absolute sustainability - when a city can produce pure water and oxygen like a plant, at the end of its many processes and not plastic, vile sewage waste and pollution. when our design system supports this holistic design process positively - we will be putting back more than we are taking out - we will have reached a point in our built environment that is to my mind the "beautiful city design." at present we dont have enough altruists to make this concept viable. more dreamers and less capitalists are urgently required.

question 4

yes this is what every futurist has been putting forward from the Khoi to Tesla. the idea of working with the earths resources sofly, softly is a very important concept. but man being the vile little creature he is - we only respond when the fires we have created and maintained start running out of fuel and start burning our very own backsides. that is why we have these words currently called disassembly, sustainability - but they are just words for now to my mind, used to fill in a contract. these words need the flesh and blood of designers who genuinely are concerned about how our processes are destroying our planet. and that is the challenge - taking it from sexy speech into viable action.

question 5

shopping malls for one - represent the extreme consumerist mindset of us all. old school markets are better and have less impact on the environment - in the past people catered for just their daily needs. milked the cow, made cheese and butter themselves, picked the vegetables, traded and still enjoyed a full life. now everything is done for us - we just buy it in a plastic throw away container. so we can have products that last years, to store for generations, all the while turning gold (our environment) into trash. our current design system is losing value with every small plastic item created. the balance between old school and new school will allow us to slow down enough to then realize when we are going to fast. people are aware of the plastic nightmare - but its no where near as controlled as it should be.

question 6

no - would love to - my only concern is it will drive up the budget and the time taken to complete. if we stop wanting things instantly, we can go back to a time when magnificent design was thought out and implemented over time using all facets of current human knowledge and expertise.

question 7

yes materials are important to sustainability - and hence to this concept of disassembly. in the future we must look to organic building materials - growing our architectural built environment - look to the tree - a perfect machine that has oxygen as its end product, and many creatures hinge off its branches and roots. - if our materials can boast that type of track record, then we will lose the tag of being the earths number 1 - VIRUS. so when our scientists and clever people stop looking for ways to kill as many people in war and start looking for ways to live this life with nature in mind - we will have a full sector on board who can really help with designing our architectural materials better.

question 8

i think this concept of permanence is the problem with our approach to architectural design - every few generations should have the privilege of designing their own working and living spaces - at present we inherit a building and then heritage romanticizes the place and we then try keep it going for ever. buildings get old and tired over time - when i worked in London measuring up old buildings to draw onto CAD, i realized old buildings develop a unique smell - "a too many people smell". i think we need to look at creating building blocks that can interchange and be reused within the context of new structures. this building architecture to last forever is a lazy mans notion of causing future generations to sleep. ive never seen a wigwam city that was built 400 years ago still in place. maybe their is something in that notion. architectural designers want glorified permanence - then maybe they should dabble in artistic sculpture and leave the habitation challenges to those who dont mind not leaving a megalith in their wake.

i say these things as an idealist but as a realist i know their is only really one solution to this systems architectural challenges - and its not disassembly or sustainability it is something much, much more magnificent than anything we as humans can ever create.

outcome although important is secondary to the process. if one writes for others then im sure that one is called a brilliant writer - however to write solely for oneself - then one is just someone who writes. then its not so important how good the work is - just that the creative work is now set outside of oneself. my latest NDCP short story is an interesting loop.

i write what i feel - the last few weeks have been really tough - what with hectic external happenings i have no major power to help with. huge violent protests close to where i live, escalation of murders between people i dont know across the world. world leaders shaking with this hand, punching with the other. if one is a sensitive sort , then these things effect one immensely. couple ones personal work stress to this and things can get out of your control quickly. you now have a perfect storm to write within.

my sum of short stories is 8 , with a man is a virus essay in between

www.qjdstory.blogspot.com

for me when im doing anything creative i feel im stealing time from something more important. an ideal scenario for me would be to get an old barn in the karoo - a big space with high volumes. then i would build a massive stone fire place within its confines. i would attach a bungy cord to the centre of the barns ceiling inside. around me in a circle from the center i would set up 8 complete creative work stations. 2 for artistic painting , 1 for creative sketching, 1 for comic writing, 1 for architectural designs, 1 for creative writing, 1 CAD station and then a dreamer station.

obviously a full carpentry / model building workshop for building stuff would be part of the periphery - not part of the creative circle. i so want to build a model of wildetecture coral city. time , time , time.

i would plug myself in to the bungy cord with my custom built harness. then i would start for the day. the cord allows me to jump / fly between stations. - oh a good coffee station would be within the flight path. so as soon as my synaptic thought process wants to do something , i jump to that station. every station would be fully set up, fully loaded for each task. so no need to break the process. i reckon 1 day a week just doing that I would fuel incredible alignment. i would be doing this for me - not for anyone else - the pure enjoyment of being able to flit between creative stations is the goal. the outcome of thought - the skeletons of endeavor - well that will be a the personal journey of making sense of the bigger picture.

just remember one doesn't have to be brilliant at anything to try - you just need a small spark - this tiny little spark deep within your own mind - ignites an inferno of creative thought - many depressives dont have an outlet for this inferno and it consumes one. many sensitive to this worlds utter brutality dont get respite. a small part of dealing with stress is to just get ones creative process outside of oneself - on paper, on canvas. dont do it for others - thats the biggest mistake - do it for yourself.

i love music and i would love to write a symphony - do i have any experience in this field yet - no i dont - but i feel if i could just concentrate on the building blocks of an array of small sounds. approach this from a direction never before conceived. my own direction. i can create something that you will never hear - but for me the process would be incredible - this notion of perfection stifles the process. just do creative endeavour for oneself - listen to what you have put together and afterwards get rid of it and then start again. one must sometimes simply be captivated by the creative process, not always this outcome based idea of all things creative. learn from the process - enjoy the process.

remember when one places ones heart at cold foul feet - the soft warmth will simply get squished between gnarled filthy toes. always be selective of where you showcase your creative work. and if the time is not correct - rather keep it close to yourself and enjoy the process - make the outcome secondary. but never ever stop, no matter how much rome burns.
