QJD design studio - passionate about designing homes

QJD design studio has designed over 80 new homes and 300 alterations to existing homes. our clients have ranged from a british lord to artists to families in Cape Towns informal settlements. We derive influence from several architectural styles , creating unique homes using influence from a wide and varied spectrum.
we have also contracted our services to several cape town architects - being the principle draughting practice for the first Cape Quarter development and Willowbridge center. offering a full range of services from concept design drawings to working drawings and schedules.

We have designed homes overseas and all around South Africa. designing homes in most of Cape Towns southern suburb estates. Baviaanskloof estate, Hillcrest estate, Stonehaven estate, Klein slangkop estate, Blue water estate to mention a few.

We are a design studio with design concepts across the board however our principle discipline is architectural design. we design furniture and dabble in several other disciplines from graphic design to sculpture. As design principles can be successfully applied to all creative disciplines.

we have just launched Erxell design and marketing as our sister practice. We want to be able to offer an additional creative design portfolio with a huge difference.

our next venture is to create South Africas first crop circle inspired home deep in the Karoo. incorporating principles from earth branded architecture, perceived kinetic architecture , disintegration of perspective, architectural shadow projection. To the first ever sculptured truss design. It has been inspired by the distant track of our ancestors to our present future techno perfect.

our very dark green ambition is to collectively create a system that's by products are pure water and oxygen.
impossible?? -
i think we are close.

Recycled artists easel wildetecture

The eco green recycled artists easel is an Erxell QJD design studio creation. Artists and designers using the easel are subliminally reminded to recycle. I have designed the artists easel in the same mould as the drawing board using part recycled materials. Its fifferent, rild and never begore seen. Just the way design ideas should be. None of this monkey see monkey do cut paste copy con nonsence.

Kinetic architectural shadow projection - wildetecture

To create the coral space wildetecture conceptual new buildings. A new point of design departure was imagined. What if the design went way beyond its obvious function. Creating an over and above concept or task for the design to acheive.

Case study 3 - Shadow projections on muizenberg beach using designed for shadow purpose building landscapes-Proposed erxell development 1.

What if the focus of the design was to create a shadow of a ball that moved along the beach as the sun set during a few summer months of the year. This would dramatically create structures and shapes that would evolve from this exercise. It would change our inherited box like thinking and create a series of shapes not yet seen. Not yet even imagined. This to accomplish the task of the shadow knows.  The shadow design process will determine the outcome of the buildings shapes. Take architectural sculptural designing away from human thought and make it into artistic task driven shadow sculpture. Get rid of the architect, let the shadow take over the design. Nows there is an exciting thought.
