Wildetecture , Erxell - wild architectural Africa creative design ideas?

"When you're one step ahead of the crowd you're a genius. When you're two steps ahead, you're a crackpot." --Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Lincoln Square

The above quote for me resonates when taking the concept of Wildetecture into account. The concept is an experiment towards a wild fauvistic Africa design style. The concept of  Erxell  is an attempt to bridge the massive chasm between Africa's  socio economic divides using advertising as a glass bead of trade.

Wildetecture is an attempt at creating a  wild dynamic Africa architectural design point of departure that encompasses the following ideals.

1) earth branded architecture
2) architectural musical interludes.
3) logotexturalised buildings.
4) perceived kinetic architecture
5) disintegration of perspective
6) architectural shadow projection
7) human driven architectural mechanisms
8) trompe leiol in architecture
9) human space sculpture - hs2
10) past image investigation - pi2

Erxell
Is championing a yet to be fully grasped sustainable unit of measure - which can gain a value depending on various factors. the main thrust of the concept is getting the advertising moguls at the same negotiating table as informal settlement dwellers. One way , to my mind for Africa  to be taken seriously, is if the architectural and design concepts add value on the world stage. erxell creates a glass bead of trade where none now exists. it creates the communicative link between technology , art , architecture and human settlements. it links into the bigger picture a people living outside of the current  formal sector frame work and grid. - just go into Khayelitsha informal settlement Cape Town and see folk living in a informal settlement next to a majorly regulated city. we need to create systems and design concepts that reach in and showcase the tale of these 2 dynamically opposite cities. one rich, one poor - at the moment the design ideas dont have a depth to do this - because clients need money and Khayelitsha informal settlement coupled with every informal settlement in South Africa - just does not have money. the erxell concept offers a bartering glass bead.

Wildetecture style furniture range couples the complete wild aspects of Africa design with the veneer of an art inspired by Africa concept. Dont wait to be validated, we dont live long enough to waste time trying to express yourself at cold fowl feet. Go to where the feet are warmer, softer and kinder more welcoming. Develop a "Jou voet in n visblik" creative mentality. Just go forward and do creative artistic expressive work. Leave behind a portfolio. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy.

south african cellphone advertising campaign could paint the town red

i mentioned the erxell concept to one of my futuristic thinking students - Epaph Mbesi. he immediately picked up on the potential of this concept to be created in informal settlements around south africa. his first suggestion was to paint a huge section of khayalitsha's roof space red, inline with a south african mobile phones add campaign. this was a simple idea to get the erxell concept to take root in the minds of south africa's advertising elite. Epaph is an entrepreneur with a dynamic outlook and a great vibrant persona. i said i would create some imagery for him to take the concept further using his contacts in khayalitsha. as the erxell concept is an organic idea constantly growing - the idea is to build bridges between south africa's social, financial and cultural entities. creative design inventing the glass bead of trade or the bonding agent between all these groups.

Wildetecture and Erxell websites live - finally

As a creative person dabbling in design ideas one must develop a never say die attitude and a rhino thick hide. Even if the ideas you wrap around are totally OTT. So as a designer from Muizenberg, Cape Town. I sometimes feel like the bugler in that peter sellers movie. pfffft - bang. - pff - BANG!  - Because as we all know every ones a great creative design critic and everyone is an uber Frank L Wright design genius.

Because all the conceptual design ventures i dabble in are more an experiment and not really where i make my daily bread. It does take a very long, long while for a conceptual idea to start getting thrashed into place. The Erxell concept  I've been nursing and fiddling around with  for 4 years is now finally, eventually, i have managed to get the website done properly. The Erxell concept is about bridging gaps between the socio economic destitute informal settlement dweller and the advertising bloated machine fat cats. Please check it out - let me know what you think.  http://www.erxell.com/  it finally and very proudly went live yesterday.

The wildetecture concept has a home as well  http://www.wildetecture.com/  this is a dynamic group of designers who specialise in creating Africa continent inspired wild design ideas. It showcases some really wild, gaudy never before seen Africa inspired designs from furniture to architecture. As wildetects we aim to do less creative talky talky and more creative walky walky. The work is for passion and just plane creativity sake - Most of the wildetect executive are recently graduated students and the direction of the designs is fresh Africa and very different. Yes definetly not to everyones taste - But fresh none the less. Wildetecture is the punk rock spark of conceptual design ideas. - Its design to passionately love or vehemently hate. Because the advertising giants are not easily contactable - We hope to use the site to showcase and spark our design ideas for industry - Which are unsolicited - Hopefully this way we can attract attention to our wildetecture design ideals thus.

Newsflash. wildetectures design Coca-Cola head office unsolicited. Using wildetecture earth branded architectural techniques and Africa fauvistic ideas , architectural trompe-l'oeil, disintegration of perspective as well as deception of vista - All the Africa fauvistic ideals - African wildetecture style. The wildetects would want to invite the head of coke to look at what a possible future coke HQ  could look like - wildetecture africa style. The design is a radical departure from the normal architectural  ideal. - go check out the site.

The products on the erxell site are 3 phase on the site - hopefully its not still beyond MAYA in nature and is starting to come into perspective. the products are.

1 A painted sign on the informal settlement roof space ,
2 A greened agricultural crop circle type signage on informal settlement roof space - worth more as its actually addressing global greening ideals without it just being a sexy buzz word.
3 A simple erxellated photo of bob mugabe's zim mansion - buy an erxell of ol bobs mansion (a square on the page) and have a link to your site and get a titledeeds of said erxell. a piece of pure africanism for you to own as an Erxell.

So now these 2 portfolios have been pushed a little further - Its always great to see the development of radical design ideas from conception to implementation to possible sustainability. An experiment all designers dabble in , an experiment all designers are trying to perfect - If not for themselves for their clients.

yip trip - a design inspired story for children

yip trip is a little boy who lives in a wave house in the sea side village, grebnezium. a town he is slowly changing for the better through clever design. the source of these design inspirations wash up on the sea shore from distant lands, after huge cape winter storms. whilst yip is trying to find a way home for the marooned characters, they impart design knowledge from the part of the world they are from. design inspiration that step by step will improve the architectural and urban landscape of yip's sea side village.
a design inspired creative journey, created for children to inspire the design minds of tomorrow.

QJD dsigen sutdio - exhibition stand

My goal - is to build the QJD dsigen sutdio exhibition stand and have it ready for the Muizenberg kite festival. The QJD stand will have examples of all the studios work - as off the wall as it is. QJD t-shirts , furniture , sculpture - rare Nado Storm original artwork and comics, the yip trip childrens series will also be available amongst a host of other QJD dsigen sutdio bits and bobs. the furniture will be ordered from the originals and will be in a series of 10 to 20 only.

Muizenberg here in Cape Town is an awsome place to live and create. The people, the atmosphere and the beach are wonderfully inspirational.

(Because on a blog post you can interject from the future. Thats what im doing now. Interjecting from 2026. Its wonderful to read ones nieve but sincere ideas many moons back above. This idea never materialised. As some markets are craft markets, some are for artists and some are food, clothes and everything else. Muizenberg should try host an art market fair. Would be interesting to see how that goes. Real people infront of their work. None of this behind computer screen easy marketing gumph. I mean an actual conversation with a real artistic person art fair)

Khayalitsha agricultural project wildetecture style

The erxell concept is a futuristic conceptual design idea coupled with Wildetecture design ideals - As per all design concepts, one has to fully understand that its way beyond the concept of MAYA - (Most Advanced Yet Acceptable) ie for the time now its to mal, to contemplate.

However wildetecture will continue to advocate the Erxell concept even if current design mindsets have written it off - Principally because  it benefits destitute folk who really need a better system to key into. Until these informal settlement folk can sit at the negotiating table with a product to sell - Big business, government, society will be content to keep feeding the destitute charitable limited crumbs.

Cape Town has huge informal settlement communities living under current extremely desperate conditions - In fire tinder box tin shacks just outside or in all the major cities - These dwellings roof space - could become a blank canvas that will benefit a few thousand informal settlement dwellers. An agricultural crop circle billboard put onto 100 x 100 informal settlement shack roofs. The families benefit from waterproofed roof and possible residual income - Advertising gets the biggest dargone sign in the world - win win -  Yes the challenges for instituting this concept are immense , yes to get the folk living in these settlements to continually upgrade and manicure their signage will be challenging. It is these challenges the advertising machine and government need to look at addressing - Because it will add a new dimension onto  the actual earth branded signage - The erxell was developed for the express purpose of putting the poor and advertising at the same table. Perhaps facilitated by government. What government lets their people live under deplorable informal settlements? Without creating urban developement solutions not controlled by gangs and corrupt landlords.  Now thats an idea -  www.erxell.com  - Thats a billboard to get excited about.

QJD design studio has long been busy promoting the Erxell concept  - Its a layering urban developement concept - let me explain. The actual branding component is only a part of the overall idea. as south africans we design our urban sprawl for the destitute very 1 dimensionally - Outwards and as fast as possible. What if we could literally live under our own.plsnted vineyards? Yes that would require platforms - using a lightweight frame  structure which the human living component keys into. So the structure for the platform and abode are 1 - taking care of 2 living dynamics at once.

The platform will allow the growth of lightweight produce like veggies, vineyards and possibly wheat. So the cultivating fields are above the dwelling component. Which forms the layering idea - The branding component forms a futuristic crop circle with the growing component cleverly interwoven into the visual branded design logo. Much like the Victorian manicured gardens of old and crop circles combined. The value of the Erxell unit of measure which is what the advertising giants buy from the informal settlement dweller will increase with the better kept logos. Which creates work, food and incentive to both cultivate and keep the cape flats looking green, green , green.

So the logo is an organic sculpture which needs maintenance - Every plane flying over the cape flats area will be able to see if the workers below are manicuring their crops and fields - This will increase the rent able Erxell space and ultimately be the monetary value - other than the actual food of course which can be bartered as in times of old.

My steps so far -

I have approached the South African institute of draughting. They have endorsed my new unit of earth brand able measurement - They have seen the future prospects of this form of large scale draughting. - The Erxell - 3 cubits X 3 cubits -( Erxell is earth sell and pixel combined) - Thereby creating A glass bead of trade between the advertising giants and your little family living in a current informal settlement shack at eg. 1 khayalitsha site B. This creates a system whereby we all benefit. A cultivated garden pointing skywards - Creating a brandable billboard - everyone wins.

Because this idea goes way beyond Raymond Loewy's MAYA concept - (Most Advanced Yet Acceptable). Its been a very slow education process. I am getting abit of airtime in design mags, its received recognition from Holcim and a few other international accolades. - I believe the way forward is one shack at a time.

I believe altruistically if a system is designed in place to have a holistic affect on an entire community - The current riff raff will not dare disrupt the balance - These communities are held ransom by criminals. No government intervention. They have to survive on their own. Nobody comes to their rescue. That is a fact.

If the multitudes are aware that collectively they can draw attention to their plight and gain finance in this way - They will police their own area and make sure the criminal element doesn't rock the current .

www.wildetecture.com

Busy with other future city scape urban visionary design ideas. However im aware these conceptual design ideas are not possible currently. The very sad reality of south africas rural community has been poured into its big cities. Sadly people live in deplorable informal settlements with not much hope for the future. Thats a Fact. A bit of design idea respite can be to weld the rural with the city scape.

Namibian desert oasis lodge proposals - wildetecture style.

QJD design studio has had the immense privilege of proposing 2 very different lodge design proposals in the Namibian desert -keying into the ever evolving wildetecture design style  ideas.

1) The Moroccan inspired wildetect concept

2) The erxell concept - earth branding concept - The idea was to create an image from the architecture outlined in the desert. To be viewed from above as per the Nazca Indian impressions in the Peruvian desert or crop circles in the English countryside. QJD keyed the Namibian lodge structure into a stylized bunch of grapes from the air (the structures proposed position is the biggest grape farm in the southern hemisphere.) The structure from the ground elevation would resemble a hill. Limiting the amount of straight man made lines. The pergolas and edges of the structure created the curves and would give the overall structure less of a man made look and be more an organic artistic sculptural composition.

One must always keep in mind the wise words of Raymond loewy when proposing any new design concept - MAYA - most advanced yet acceptable.

The desert is always an incredible place to create absolute drama - Wildetecture will be designing an eventual creative space deep in the Karoo, Namib or Kalahari deserts. Taking care to keep to the principles of earth branded architecture, perceived kinetic architecture, architectural shadow projection, disintegration of perspective, human driven architectural mechanisms and all the other wildetecture architectural concepts that fascinate us and continue to inspire us to dream.

A complete obsession of wildetecture design studio is to create a wildetecture inspired structure very  deep in one of Africa's deserts - Far away from the red tape machine, away from the maddening crowds stifling creative thought. We are slowly identifying with the brave folk of yesteryear who pioneered the unknown spaces by moving west or trekking north or sailing towards the unknown horizon. To get away from the accountant like over regulated towns and cities of Europe or areas governed by those who would delight at rearranging your furniture. Unfortunately a new frontier sailing trip with ox wagons and tools is not provided for the current pioneering spirit anymore. However dreams and visions are the sancitity of the creative sane. Its the insane who feel normalised by the sounds of a neighbor's toilet flushing, instead of the wild sound of a real lions Africa wild freedom roar.

Imagine looking up and seeing nothing but stars and knowing your nearest neighbor does not stand on 2 legs. And if he does hes very hairy - No i dont mean the hairy dude with the gold chain necklace 3 doors down from you in over ctowded suburbia. I mean an Africa free wild animal - What an absolute pleasure.

Charlie & charlize chit chat chairs

pool lounging with a difference

Charlie and Charlize chit chat chairs are furniture accessory wildetecture pool lounges. A super deco status pool accessory. Sculptured pool furniture style design.

They come with enough tude to sort out the prema- dons from the donnas. And sufficient bling to spark a revolution of dialogue. Hence the chit chat part.

Wild pool accessory design - wildetecture style.

QJD research & development

Phase 1 - Over the last 5 years Ive been exploring with different advertising angles. Trying to get what i do and offer out there. I thought showing my target group im a creative was enough. Not so it seems.

1) Ive had the small but subtle clues leading to my website approach in 2005 - Printed In magazine advertisements that showed QJD design studio and no contact details other than my name. My reasoning was to get folk to google my info and interact with the business from their. The mystery discovery approach - appeal to the mystety fiscoverer. Meh!! didnt work. Turns out the masses dont like homework puzzles. Not a bite.

2) Ive had the leaving old leather folders in airports round the world approach in 2008. Also the same info put in old bottles thrown into the sea.  With encrypted clues and hidden messages. All leading to my erxell website.
Google - Grebnezium, yip trip , nado storm and a host of other cooked up design ideas and see what i mean. I received the grand total of 1 hit from someone who found a bottle in Arniston and told me they found it. Not a huge advertising success TBH.

3)The first chapter written sci-fi story - Arachnid sunrise - also put in sea harvested bottles approach in 2009, again very secret squirrel. Nudda, it was like the sea kept all its stories hidden.

4) Ive written a few whacked out short stories and poems and left them around the world using various mediums. Nuffing.

5) the decal on my car with no numbers mystery cteative design man. Turns out hieroglyphics is not a decipherable past time.

All 5 concepts phase 1 sufficiently whacky and off the wall which suites my experimental advertising approach. Well in all this Ive deduced.

IF YOUR NOT HAVING IN YOUR FACE ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN, YOUR NOT GOING TO GET THE EXPOSURE.

People don't want to use treasure maps to find you, the 2 bites of the cherry is not an advertising concept - Especially if the first bite is ity bity small and unclear. If your not coke or pepsing your add campaigns - don't expect bums on seats.

So ladies and gentlemen I'm now going to try.

Phase 2 of the research on my own approach to how i advertise. drummmmm rolllll puleeze

QJD design studio, Erxell and all the other concepts on roids approach. Starting with putting all my designs out there. Im now beefing up the ad campaign, beeeg time. No more mr subtle nancy fancy 2 shoes mystery pants. This show is going on the road - well in the very least im going to stand infront of my office in the road and dodge the cars shouting my campaign to get clients.

The attached jpeg is my butterfly chair design - We are going from stealth mode to supersonic no mystery advertising.

Actual built end product designs. Lets see how enormous this advertising approach can get.

(Turns out, because you can add stuff in blogs in 2025 - not so enormous. If the masses aint ready for your design creative madness. Your nut noodle aint getting sponsored off the runway.)

One day i will buy one of these cars. Until then i will just showcase my ambition on a T shirt. This car represents design way before its time. Minds that think of ideas before the mainstream are very rare and refreshing. The many features designed on this car showcased design thinking way before anyone else.

Fingerprint city design wildetecture style

Exploring the concept of earth branded architecture is now becoming a complete obsession here at QJD design studio. The finger print city wildetecture concept involves the very obvious top perspective being the departure point for the built environment city scape design ideal.

It would be incredible to create a dream city structure in the deep Karoo, Namib or Kalahari deserts or any desert space in Africa for that matter. Keying into the wildetecture concepts of earth branded architecture, perceived kinetic architecture , disintegration of perspective, architectural shadow projection and all the other wildetecture africa fauvistic architectural design ideals.

The fingerprint city concept is to create human space and cities over a well thought out city scape idea. Giving the built environment scape a humanised perspective. Cities that align less on accountant like grid formations - But purposefully changing the grid to encompass human identifiable design dynamics. Not for the faint hearted - but a bold different design way forward.

Showcasing the unique truss, column configurations which will make the above concept spark to life (a CSI - creative spark item) The structure itself will radiate the concepts and showcase the Hs2 - human space sculpture ideals,  erxell, QJD design studio and wildetecture have become passionate about working hard to try promote.

QJD design studio - passionate about designing homes

QJD design studio has designed over 80 new homes and 300 alterations to existing homes. Our clients have ranged from a british lord to artists to families in Cape Towns informal settlements. We derive influence from several architectural styles , creating unique homes using influence from a wide and varied spectrum.
We have also contracted our services to several cape town architects - being the principle draughting practice for the first Cape Quarter development and Willowbridge center. Offering a full range of services from concept design drawings to working drawings and schedules.

We have designed homes overseas and all around South Africa. Designing homes in most of Cape Towns southern suburb estates. Baviaanskloof estate, Hillcrest estate, Stonehaven estate, Klein slangkop estate, Blue water estate to mention a few.

We are a design studio with design concepts across the board however our principle discipline is architectural design. We design furniture and dabble in several other disciplines from graphic design to sculpture. As design principles can be successfully applied to all creative disciplines.

We have just launched Erxell design and marketing as our sister practice. We want to be able to offer an additional creative design portfolio with a huge difference.

Our next venture is to create South Africas first crop circle inspired home deep in the Karoo. Incorporating principles from earth branded architecture, perceived kinetic architecture , disintegration of perspective, architectural shadow projection. To the first ever sculptured truss design. It has been inspired by the distant track of our ancestors past to our present future techno perfect.

Our very dark green ambition is to collectively create a system that's by products are pure water and oxygen.

impossible?? -

If we werent distracted by petty war, i think people are close to inventing this as reality.
