The blurry hand drawn rough concept sketch is always an exciting point of design departure. You meet with the potentail client, you see the perameters of the existing structures on site. You take into consideration budget and all possibilities.
I sometimes just sketch a rough conceptual with my quote. I do this for 2 reasons. As a creative its always to stretch ones abilities. If you can design then prove it. And secondly it starts the client on the projects journey. If they go with someone else they have a phase 1 sketch. Fine wine takes time and much work. My rough sketch is just a small part of the uncovering process. I enjoy the puzzle and a sketch unlocks that process and dialogue.
