Rough conceptual hand sketches are the life blood of any design process to my mind. The mind unpacking concept designs through hand eye coordination. These sketches are not the ones i show my client, this is my process to get to an end design.
I have collected many architectural sketch design books of other passionate students of the discipline. I try and copy their styles and looseness of sketch technique. I havent got that right as yet. I find my style of sketch not as light as i would like it to be. I feel i have to rework the sketch several times before i am remotely happy. Its a long work in progress. However the sketch comes out of the mist and ether of the mind. Sometimes they are tiny, other times big and bold. A schizophrenic personality shift in drawing technique. Constantly critical, constantly trying to improve. However my approach is diffetent to others. Im starting to like my style. However its taken awhile. But oh how i love seeing a truelly gifted architectural sketch artist. Its pure magic and i feel incredible admiration to the craft of taking design ideas out the ether and showcasing them in a beautiful executed sketch. That is always dynamic to experience. I really hope AI doesn't destroy this skill. Those who can sketch, please keep at it. There is nothing more incredible to appreciate in the art world. Than a well executed design sketch. Powerful , elegant and mesmerizing.
